Admittedly this is one of the cities more exclusive and expensive districts – but it deserves this epithet. Beautiful houses are surrounded by trendy coffee shops and boutiques making it a wonderful place to live. The San Jose Valley isn't just tech however and in the district of Los Gatos you can really reconnect with nature as well as enjoying a fantastic pace and style of living.

Downtown

The Downtown area of San Jose has been transformed in recent years – shrugging off its slightly shady past and emerging as the playground for the young and fun heartbeat of the area. New condo buildings are appearing for the first time offering luxurious downtown apartments in San Jose as well as hipster lofts – encapsulating urban living. West San Jose

Compared to the other districts in San Jose, apartments in West San Jose are among the most affordable in the region – although on average a 1-bedroom apartment will still cost $2100 a month. West San Jose is predominantly a residential area with the majority of houses being ranch style homes from the 1950's and 60's when the city really expanded. The large suburban area is dominated by the Winchester Mystery House however which brings in a lot of people to the area and thus has a good selection of restaurants and café's to cater to locals and tourists. Whilst it doesn't have the heartbeat of some of the more central districts its affordability and family friendliness make West San Jose apartments attractive.

Public Transport San Jose

Whilst San Jose is fast becoming the transport hub for Northern and Central California – there city itself has only a few options to get around. The light rail network, VTA, however is rather extensive and a single ride ticket costs $2.25 whereas you can get an 8-hour pass for $4.50 with weekly and monthly passes also available. As you can probably guess, ridesharing is the chief way of transport here however if you don't have a car.
