Furnished Apartments and Rooms to Rent in San Jose

As one of the prime locations in the 'Silicon Valley' area just south of San Francisco – Apartments in San Jose are some of the most expensive in America and potentially the world. The average rental price for all apartments in San Jose are steadily climbing and at the moment the average price for a 1-bedroom stands at $2300 a month. Furnished and serviced apartments and rooms in San Jose will unfortunately cost more than the average, but that is the price for convenience and the amenities that usually come with them! When you are looking for a shorter to mid-term rental though – paying that little bit extra to make the hassle of moving that little bit easier is often worth it.

Apartments in San Jose by District

There are many small districts and neighborhoods that make up San Jose proper, each with their own feel and offering something different – there truly is something for everyone. For those looking to stay connected to the heartbeat of San Jose but wanting a 'quainter' feel – one should look no further than Willow Glen. Admittedly this is one of the cities more exclusive and expensive districts – but it deserves this epithet. Beautiful houses are surrounded by trendy coffee shops and boutiques making it a wonderful place to live. The San Jose Valley isn't just tech however and in the district of Los Gatos you can really reconnect with nature as well as enjoying a fantastic pace and style of living.

Downtown

The Downtown area of San Jose has been transformed in recent years – shrugging off its slightly shady past and emerging as the playground for the young and fun heartbeat of the area. New condo buildings are appearing for the first time offering luxurious downtown apartments in San Jose as well as hipster lofts – encapsulating urban living. Yes, the prices are high here, but with the majority of San Jose's attractions at your doorstep, it was never going to be cheap. Downtown San Jose apartments benefit from the proximity to event spaces and the heartbeat of the city and for those young at heart it is a fantastic place to stay.

Japantown

Slightly North of Downtown San Jose you will find Japantown, one of three remaining authentic Japantown's in the USA. Apartments in San Jose's Japantown really benefit from the diverse nature of the area – the streets lined with fantastic eateries and cafes and well as authentic Japanese boutiques and of course karaoke bars. Although the majority of apartments in the area average out at around $2400 for a 1-bedroom, there are steals to be found in the area. If you do find one – then move fast. It won't be on the market for very long.

West San Jose

Compared to the other districts in San Jose, apartments in West San Jose are among the most affordable in the region – although on average a 1-bedroom apartment will still cost $2100 a month. West San Jose is predominantly a residential area with the majority of houses being ranch style homes from the 1950's and 60's when the city really expanded. The large suburban area is dominated by the Winchester Mystery House however which brings in a lot of people to the area and thus has a good selection of restaurants and café's to cater to locals and tourists. Whilst it doesn't have the heartbeat of some of the more central districts its affordability and family friendliness make West San Jose apartments attractive.

Public Transport San Jose

Whilst San Jose is fast becoming the transport hub for Northern and Central California – there city itself has only a few options to get around. The light rail network, VTA, however is rather extensive and a single ride ticket costs $2.25 whereas you can get an 8-hour pass for $4.50 with weekly and monthly passes also available. As you can probably guess, ridesharing is the chief way of transport here however if you don't have a car.
