Neighbourhoods for Student Accommodation in Berlin

In Berlin, WGs (Wohngemeinschaften or shared flats) are the best student housing option. For international students who don’t know many people in the city, they provide an instant set of friends and great launchpad to the rest of the city. Furthermore, short-term contracts for WGs do not require a lot of paperwork and you can rent a room almost instantly. Studying abroad can be quite challenging already, so scanning the web for the best places to stay should not be one of your worries. Nestpick has pulled together all the best offers on student houses in Berlin in one place to help you find your dream furnished apartment in a short time frame.

Best Areas to Find & Rent Student Apartments and Rooms in Berlin

Kreuzberg used to be considered the student neighborhood, and while it is getting more expensive, it’s still affordable and one of the most popular Kiez for students. You can still find cheap WGs for rent, as well as student favourites to eat such as Hasir Kreuzberg and Burger House. If you are looking for a quick meal during the day, Orient Eck is Kreuzberg’s worst kept secret, and you can get a Döner teller (a large plate of food) for c.5€. In the summer, it’s Kreuzberg’s parks that steal the show though, filling up with people having a beer at the end of the day, listening to music or barbecuing with friends.

Student Life in Berlin: Going Out

Berlin’s nightlife is world renown and particularly fantastic for newcomers who are into clubbing. Most clubs don’t get busy until 1am and won’t close until 10am the following morning, and often later... There are many different clubs, providing different genres of music and attracting different crowds of people, even though most of them play electronic music with a focus on techno. Kreuzberg is notorious for having a high concentration of clubs, mostly in the Wrangelkiez, while Friedrichshain also has a lot to offer in the RAW area as well as being home to the infamous Berghain. Neukölln is still a very lively area, but here the nightlife revolves more around affordable and quirky bars.
